Welcome to the dark alleyways of hallow city, where slums overtake the posh neighborhoods. The rising cost of living has forced hundreds out into the streets. Unable to buy food never mind pay the rent. Jobs are scarse and the whole place is in disarray, the police doing the best they can to make the place look decent again. Even if it means wiping out the 'scum' that live on the streets.

Claire looked around the diner. It was between one and three- the slowest times at the diner. There were a few people happily eating their meals in a couple booths, soft jazz music was playing from the speakers to the stereo that was hooked up next to her. It was another quiet day at Ben's. Claire took out her colored string from a drawer beside the cash register and started to work on the bracelet she started the other day.
It was really cool looking. It looked like on of those surfer bracelets, it had a shell she found braided into it along with some light colored beads from her container. After about ten minutes, she put her bracelet up and cleared off a table. No tip was left on the table. Oh well, she thought to herself it's been some tough times lately...
Claire took the dirty dishes to the back and dumped them in the sink. She said a nice little 'hello' to the chef in the kitchen and returned back out to her spot at the register. Claire looked around the diner at the pictures on the wall, absentmindly playing with her jade ring. Everyone looked happy and cheerful in the pictures, before everything happened.
Hearing the bell jingle at the door, signaling someone was coming in, Claire looked to see who her next customer was.

Nathan felt his stomach churn before he felt it grumble and pressed his hand against it as if it would stop it protesting. He had eaten nothing all day and now he was starving, grumbling to himself Nathan knew he would have to just part with some money and get some food in. He was in Eldon Square at the moment, attracted to the place to the warmth of being inside. Walking up one of the halls in the place he spotted a place he had been to before, Ben's. Remembering that they did free refills and cheap food he smiled, heading to the place. Nathan might of had two jobs but he was no where near rich and so hated wasting cash on food even only occasionally, so the fact that this place wasnt too expensive made it all the better.
Pushing the door open he heard it jingle and smiled politely at the woman on the till who looked over before taking a seat in one of the booths that lined the wall. Sitting felt good and he sighed as he relaxed into the comfortable seat, taking off his leather jacket a then his red jacket, dumping them both on the seat next to him closest to the wall. Leaving him in just his plain black short sleeved top and fingerless gloves, which he was so used to having on at all times they where like a second skin. He then pushed his backpack under the table, being careful not to bash it around too much. Everything with him was everything he owned and so he wouldn't let any of it out of his sight, not even for a moment.
Picking up the menu Nathan scanned it for the cheapest meal, well at least the cheapest that he felt like. Might as well get something nice if he was eating out for a change. Settling on the burger and coke deal he sat back, content with just being comfortable for once and looked at the pictures. He could tell they where of Hallow City but looked so old and strange, the happy faces not being something that you came across much now.
