Welcome to the dark alleyways of hallow city, where slums overtake the posh neighborhoods. The rising cost of living has forced hundreds out into the streets. Unable to buy food never mind pay the rent. Jobs are scarse and the whole place is in disarray, the police doing the best they can to make the place look decent again. Even if it means wiping out the 'scum' that live on the streets.

I'm gonna make it out alive [Amber] « Thread Started on Sept 4, 2009, 5:02pm »
Juliette's Ferrari roared to a stop in the parking lot. Normally she didn't drive it to work, but fuck it all if today wasn't a "special" occasion. She wasn't dressed for work. Her blonde curls were in a high ponytail and she wore skin-tight Juicy jogging shorts and a tank top, her feet hastily stuffed in a pair of old Puma's. Juliette grabbed a black Chanel duffel bag out of the trunk of her car and stormed up to the back of the strip joint, opening the door with a resounding thud through the dressing room. The girls inside froze and looked at her as she paused for a second, out of breath in the doorway, and started walking to her dressing table.
Muttering curses the whole way, she stepped around everything strewn on the floor-old clothes, underwear, costume jewelry, and containers of stripper glitter, ignoring everyone who was trying to talk to her. Upon reaching her designated dressing station, Juliette opened the drawer and shoved all of its contents (mostly cheap accessories) into her duffel bag and walked around, flinging the shoes and lingerie that she'd brought from home into the bag.
"Fuck this place," she snarled, grabbing handfuls of clothing,"I'm outta here. Tell the boss he can go fuck himself if he asks where I went."

The girls had been getting ready when Juliette barged in. They were all taken aback by it. Just across the hall was the door to Amber's dressing room. As she was getting ready, she could hear shouting from outside. She stood up, dressed in black short shorts and a white cotton tshirt. When she opened the door, she saw Juliette shouting. She sounded upset and it concerned her.
Juliette had been such a great friend to her. Helping her in tiems of need. Amber would forever be in her debt. Now it seemed, Juliette needed someone to talk to. Amber saw the other girls freaked out and not saying anything. Amber walked over to the girl whose arms were flailing as she packed things. Amber came over and touched the girls arm gently. "Juliette! Sweety what's wrong?!? What's going on?"

"I'm out of here," Juliette snapped, zipping up her bag, "Done, finito, finished. I quit. And if any of those cocksuckers in the front room give me any lip about it then I'm going to tell them to shove it."
She yanked the bag up and put it on her shoulder. She didn't really have any friends here, anyway besides Amber. Juliette hated to leave like this, but it had to be done, really. There was only so much a girl could take, especially a girl who didn't have to take it. She wanted to say goodbye to Amber, but "Look me up if you're ever in Tsunami Lake Estates" was too cold.
"I'm outta here, Amber," she said dully, laying a hand on Amber's shoulder, "I'm not coming back."

Amber looked at the women confused. Why was she so angry? What made her want to leave like this. Amber gripped the girls wrist and pulled her into her dressign room, locking the door behind her. Amber crossed her arms and waited for an explanation. "What the fuck is going on" she demanded. "Why the hell are you doing this. What happened. You know you can always talk to me" he said to her.

"I'm freaking sick of this place," Juliette said with disgust, "I'm sick of smelling like booze and cigarettes and god knows what else, and I'm sick of guys trying to grab my ass all the time, and mostly I'm sick of the freaking boss acting like he owns the whole world."
She ran a hand over her hair and took a deep breath. Juliette gave a hoarse laugh as she sank down on a nearby chair.
"The other night in the parking lot...some guy tried to grab me. It was so weird, I think he might have been drunk. Anyway...Mr. Boss Man walked out the door just as I kicked him and started screaming...the guy ran away and all I got was a "You're working a double tomorrow". I could have been shanked in the freaking parking lot, Amber."
She held up her arm. There were still a couple of light purple bruises, left over from being grabbed and spun around. Juliette's nails were ragged from clawing at his skin.
"I'm moving back in with my parents," she said flatly, "The movers are coming in two days. God knows there's enough room for me back at the Manor."

Amber listened to her story and understood where she was coming from. Amber had had her fair share of bruises. Countless times someone had tried to grab her. The difference between Juliette and Amber? Juliette had the guts to stand up for herself. Amber did, but she knew that if she lost this job, she had nothing to fall back on to. Juliette had her family to support her which was fine. Amber looked at her and caresed the girls cheek. She knelt beside the blonde sitting int he chair and smiled. "Aww sweety I'm so sorry. That must have been horrible" she said. "If you feel it's best that you leave, than leave. I'll hold off Nick for you. He won't be mad forever. Do what your heart tells you."
She kissed the girls cheek gently and rested her head on Juliette's lap. "Please promise that you'll visit me...or I can come to you" she said. "I miss you. I liked being your little love slave" she said moving closer to the girl. "You are such a beautiful woman and it's selfish of me to want you to stay, but I love and if you ened to go. Just go baby."

Juliette smiled vacantly. She did have some pretty nice times with Amber. None of her other "acceptable friends" in her parents's eyes were as much fun, really.
"You can visit me all the time, Amber," she said, stroking the other girl's hair, "And you can go to parties with me...we'll still have fun."
She knew it wouldn't be the same. Hell, Amber probably knew that it wouldn't be the same. But still, it was something, right?
"I don't want you talking to Nick though. Just tell him you don't know where I am, okay?"

She smiled a weak smile at Juliette's promise to still hang out and party. It was like back in high school when friends said that they'd totally hang out all summer and never did. Or if a friend moved away and promised to stay in contact. It was only a matter of time. Amber looked at Juliette and gave her a puppy dog face. "Hey, theclub doesnt fully open for a few hours. You mind if we had a little goodbye party for you. I mean...just you and me...in here. I have plenty of spots we could hide if you'd like."
Amber really wanted Juliette right now. So bad. At least if she lost her, she'd have this one memory. She loved being with men, but girls were soooo fun! They loved to touch, hug and squeeze and appreciated her curves more so than guys did. She loved Juliette and how sweet she was but would till be rough and dirty. Amber always felt so submissive around the girl. She wanted Juliette to have her way with her for some reason. It was just how she felt. She admired her.

Juliette shook her head sadly. Not here. Not like this. The one thing she'd managed not to do was have sex in this miserable dump, and she wasn't going to start now, even if it was with Amber. Juliette let out a heavy sigh.
"I can't, Amber. I should go see my parents and...their friends."
By "their friends" Juliette meant "some of the Rockefellers", but Amber didn't need to know that. It didn't matter anyway. This wasn't fair, really. Her friend being stuck in this hell-hole was really starting to grate on Juliette's nerves.
"Amber," Juliette said, semi-reluctant to approach the subject, "Why don't you leave this place, anyway? You could get a job as a secretary, you'd be really good at it. You're pretty. Corporate people are nicer to you when you're pretty."

Amber was a bit hurt when Juliette refused, but she just looked at the floor. She looked up at the blonde and said nothing until she suggested she leave this place. "Juliette, I can't. This makes good money and yeah I give up most of it to Nick but I have a bed to sleep in every night...not my own but it's still someone's. I enjoy it...I love to perform and sing. Sure it's weird to think of it that way, but I'm a performer and some of those men out there need this" she said. Her argument she knew sounded a little pathetic, but it was hard to explain. Plus she was slightly thankful for the job. She got to sing and she had met Allen. Allen was an older cop who she had spent a few nights with. He really cared for her and was willing to make her always feel happy and more comfortable.
She looked at Juliette. "I'll always be thankful that you are my friend love, but I can't boycott like you can. You have a family to go to and a life outside of this. I can't." She looked at the girl and couldn't help but kiss her once on her soft lips. "Come visit me though okay? Not here. It can be anywhere that makes you comfortable. You can make a little game out of it. Pull up next to me while I'm walking down the street" she said teasingly. "Just...don't forget about me okay?"

"Okay, okay," Juliette sighed, "I get it."
She didn't really. She probably never would. After all, Juliette's father had more money than God and so did her mother. Juliette never really had to work here, she was just sick of being spoiled and safe all the time, something that Amber would probably never know. But this goodbye was starting to get a little painful for her, even though she was going to do her best to make good on her promise to keep in touch.
"H-hey," she said with a grin, trying to keep her voice from wavering, "Why make me do all the work? You gotta come visit me at my family's house, like we talked about. Listen, next week...we're having a little dinner party. My family and a couple of friends. You should come, you can even raid my closet. My real closet, not the one at the apartment. What do you say?"
Dinner parties were usually easy to blend into. You were mostly seated the whole time, all the adults were tipsy so they didn't notice much, and it was pretty low-key. Unlike galas, which could be overwhelming based on the sheer number of forks alone.

Amber looked at her and bit her lip nervously. "I dunno. What will your mother think of me. What if they notice or find out what I am. Do your parents know about how close we are?" she asked. All these nervous questions. She took a deep breath and looked at Juliette. She was too cute and she knew that she'd be saying yes eventually. Amber sighed and looked at the girl. "You don't ahve a big enough booty for me to fit in your clothes" she said teasingly.
"I'd be happy to accompany you to the dinner. It'll be fun. But I must prepare then for a night filled with judgement. Something tells me your mother will disapprove of me. Have some sort of intuition that will make her think I'm no good" she said apranoid. "How viscior is she?" she asked of Juliette's mother.
Suddenly there was a knock at the door. "Common Amber you got 10 minutes before the artist get here to get you into proper costume!" Nick shouted. "Tonight is a icy hot theme. We're going to chill your body a little" he said. "I'm bringing them in as soon as they get here so you best be ready by then."
"Okay Nick!" Amber said rolling her eyes. "The hings I do for that man" she said laughing to herself. She looked at Juliette and smiled. "Well I'm happy your getting out fo this place. I always thought you would" she said.

"You worry too much," Juliette said, rolling her eyes, "Everyone'll be too busy sucking back wine to notice anything. It's no big thing. Just don't cuss and you'll be golden."
Juliette had been going to these things since before she could walk. She'd practically been raised on cocktails and caviar, and couldn't imagine thinking it was "hard" to blend in with the sort of crowd that her parents ran in. When Amber made her comment Juliette pouted and folded her arms.
"Well fine, Amber," Juliette said, "We can't all have Barbie's measurements. You'll just have to make do with what I've got."
She grinned, but it quickly faded by the time Nick started yelling. Juliette hated the man. Really, she could probably blow John again and get him arrested, but she didn't want Amber to get caught in the process. The Chief of Police and Amber didn't really...get along.
"Meet me outside next Wednesday at four p.m. and we'll get ready. I know you don't have the night shift then," Juliette said, grabbing her bag and standing up to stretch, "I'll see you then."
